BACKGROUND:

At  16, my first car was a ’50 Chevy, powerglide with a froze up motor! Got it running!
Received first ticket for exhibition of speed in Merced Ca. I was on my way to a racin’
career. The ol’ Chevy finally died.

Tried my luck at 2 wheels ( Harleys) while building a ’27 T Roadster pick up with a 265 Small block, 4 speed. There was no stopping me.

Traded the Roadster for a ’61 Chevy. I took it to the Ballico and Madeira California drag strips and the back streets of Merced.

I was always trading 1 car for another. Merced DMV told me to get a dealers license if I was to continue down this path.

I moved to Nevada—still in the produce business with my Dad. Took up motorcross for about 6 years but after several trips to the ortho doctor, he suggested I take a hard look at my choice of sports.

Met up with a metal fabricator, Al Mathers of Accent Auto in Sparks Nevada. He is to blame for getting me hooked on Willys. Al introduced me to his neighbor at his shop, Butch Ranson who races a blown alcohol ’46 Ford coupe.

I started hanging around Butch’s shop after work. After many late night discussions and lots of beer, we came to the conclusion it was in my best interest to get back in action at the drag strips.

I contacted Bill Fitting, as he has the reputation as an excellent chassis builder.

Well, the end result is I am in my 3rd year racing my Tangelo 41 Willys with AA Supercharged and the gang, still trying to get that 200MPH.

But I gotta tell ya, I couldn’t do it without my crew—my main squeeze, Diane and my son Scott who has all the muscle. To them—I say THANK YOU
